Phoenix @ DAR Constitution Hall

Have you ever bought an album that became the soundtrack for a part of your life? Cicely and I discovered Phoenix last year and fell in love with their music. Their current album is one of those that when you reach the last song on it you need to play the whole thing again because it was just that good. We would crank it up on the way to weddings or when huddled in our snow covered house this past winter. Even though it was gloomy outside, Phoenix always got us fired up.

We were so excited a few months ago when we saw on Twitter that they were going to be playing a show in DC at DAR Constitution Hall this spring. We had been meaning to see a concert there and were thrilled that it happened to be Phoenix. Constitution Hall is right down the street from the White House and with its Neoclassical style was the perfect backdrop for this French band. We had really great seats on the floor and during the last song of the night the lead singer made his way down the aisle. He stopped right in front of us and finished his set standing on a chair with Cicely holding his arm to steady him (a point she brought up quite a few times on the way home). It was a phenomenal concert.

It is spring now and I am listening to their album as I write this post. I still can’t get enough of it after a year. I have a feeling that this album will continue to dominate our playlist and be associated with a whole new set of memories. Check out their video below and if you like what you hear purchase their album. You won’t be disappointed.
